Daily Email - Friday - 05/15/2026

It’s Friday, and y’all already know I’ll be outside all weekend. I’ll be celebrating grads, bouncing around to my favorite events like always, and probably saying “I’m staying in tonight” before immediately leaving the house 20 minutes later. Congrats to all the graduates this weekend, now go make the city proud.

Before you clock out, let me get you hooked up with some free tickets. Pick your poison: are we singing our hearts out at TLC, Salt-N-Pepa, and Vogue? Or is it more tacos, tequila, and questionable decisions with your Besties? Either way, y’all know what to do. Smash those links, enter those giveaways.

JUST ANNOUNCED

  • The Neighbourhood is pulling up to T-Mobile Center on November 16th with special guest Nessa Barrett, and honestly? Prepare to feel everything. This is the kind of concert that turns an arena into a giant ball of emotions.

  • There’s something about Passion Pit that immediately transports you back to late-night drives, Tumblr-era playlists, and dancing in somebody’s apartment. Catch them June 20th at The Truman.

  • Laid-back but somehow still deeply existential, Kurt Vile & the Violators hit Liberty Hall on November 11th. Expect fuzzy guitar riffs, winding jams, and the kind of indie rock that makes you want to romanticize your entire life.

  • If your ideal night includes dancing under the stars and pretending you’re the main character for a few hours, Foster the People and Goth Babe have you covered on September 24th at Starlight Theatre. Experience the dreamy indie-pop and beachy energy.

  • Meanwhile, Wavves is bringing pure gremlin energy to The Bottleneck on July 14th. Loud, gritty, sweaty, and just chaotic enough to make you lose track of time in the best way possible.

TRIVIA, BINGO, KARAOKE, & MORE

It’s Friday, which means the energy is officially WEEKEND ENERGY.

Trivia nights where friendships are tested, bingo nights that somehow feel like a professional sport, and karaoke moments where everyone suddenly believes they are the main character on stage.

Text the group chat. Rally the crew. You already know you’re showing up.

THE LOCAL’S LIST: RACQUEL RODRIGUEZ

This week’s Local’s List is one we’re excited to introduce. Racquel Rodriguez is the founder of El Café Cubano, Kansas City’s first (and only) Cuban coffee brand on wheels.

Through El Café Cubano, she is introducing cafecito culture to Kansas City in a way that hasn’t been done before, blending traditional Cuban coffee-making with mobile, community-driven pop-ups across the city.

Learn more about how she’s shaping culture, community, & connection across the city.

Off to find a gift for my graduate. I’m already gifting her concert tickets, but she wants something to open. Perhaps a grill from Smile Blanc?
